
BLOCK II AREA
Historical
Block-II Area came into existence in the year 1983-84 primarily for the production of Coking Coal with the inclusion of the Nudkhurkee OCP, Benedih OCP, Jamunia OCP & the opening of Block-II Project. The Block-II Project was funded by World Bank. The project was envisaged to improve the financial position of BCCL and to meet the growing demand of Coking Coal in the country.
In the year 2002-03 Benedih OCP, Nudkhurkee OCP & Block-II OCP (Coking coal) were amalgamated and Block-II OCP (Non-coking) Project came into existence. In 2003-04 Madhuban Coal Washery also came under the administrative control of Block-II Area.

Block-II Area is situated about 40 KM west of Dhanbad & its
Latitude – 23º 47’30” to 23º 46’30”
Longitude – 86º 13’30” to 86º 10’30”
The Administrative Office of the General Manager of Block-II Area is situated in the palace of the Erstwhile Maharaja of Nawagarh Estate near the present Dumra Bus stand at a distance of 40 km West from BCCL headquarters, Koyla Bhawan, Dhanbad. All the projects under Block-II Area are situated 3-5 km away from the Area Office.The distances of the Area office from nearby important places are as :-
40 km away from Dhanbad Railway station.
10 km away from Gomoh Railway station
4 km away from local railway station like Phulwartanr and Khanudih (Baghmara).
Public conveyance
The place is well connected by road with Dhanbad, Gomoh, Chandrapura & Phusro. Public transport facility is available to all the above places.

Total leasehold area is 907 Hectares.
Area affected by Fire & subsidence & its dealing
Total area affected by fire & subsidence:-
Area affected by fire is eastern part of Block-II OCP Mine upto No. X Seam is approximately 14.5 Hectares. Fire patches are under operation to dig out the fiery coal and combustible materials to save the coal from burning and to stop further spread of the fire.
Further in Block-II OCP, CIMFR has been awarded to prepare scheme for dealing of fire near Adra-Gomoh railway line.

REGIONAL REPAIR WORKSHOP
This is the workshop that caters to the major repair works of both Block-II OCP & Jamunia OCP. The jobs mainly carried out here are as hereunder:
1. Heavy mechanical repairs
2. Reclamation works
3. Manufacturing works involving turning, machining, milling, slotting etc except casting, forging, heat treatment or annealing works.
4. Electrical maintenance repair works of motors, generators like assembling, changing of internal components, minor rewinding, insulation & varnishing works.
5. Assembling & component changing of mine pumps
6. Rehabilitation works of Dozers, Drills & Dumpers
7. Maintenance works of Cranes & Graders
The facilities available at RRWS for the various repair works include:

Future planning
One Underground Coal mine of 0.45MTY capacity is going to be started in near future in the Area involving continuous miner technology. One Washery behind the existing Washery is under construction.

Human Resource Development
For the development of professional and personal skill sets of staffs belonging to each category, various training programs are organized at various institutions within BCCL and CIL. Executives, staffs & workers of different units of Block-II Area are given training
Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM) Ranchi: All the executives undergo various training programs at IICM which is a state of art institution having highly qualified faculties.
Excavation and Mechanization Training Institute (EMTI) Dhansar: EMTI provides training to operators for HEMM and underground mine mechanization for critical category like, Dragline Operators, Dumper Operators, Shovel Operators, and Dozer Operators.
MTI & SDI, Human Resource Development Department Kalyan Bhawan, Dhanbad: It provides various soft skills development for executives as well as non-executives in various managerial, jobs related and personal traits.
Group Vocational Training Centre (GVTC), Barora Area: Contractor workers are given training at GVTC, Barora.
E-initiatives
Block-II area has taken a keen interest in making its working efficient, transparent and green. In this regard several activities have been initiated.
1. Online executive leave management: Block-II is the first area in BCCL to implement online leave management system.
2. Correspondence through mail: The area is trying to shift to full electronic correspondence system. Most of the correspondence has been in electronic form only.
3. E-Tendering: Block-II is also the first area to implement e-tendering process.
4. Electronic data updation: All the official data are periodically updated in coal net which provides easy access to data and transparency.
Area Committees
There are several committees in the area which guide and monitor the overall working in their own domain as well as in general.
1. The Area Consultative Committee (ACC): deals with overall performance evaluation and exploration of areas for improvement for production and other allied activities. CSR Jobs
Village health camps with the help of Mobile Medical Van (स्वास्थ्य रथ) & a team of trained medical personnel are organized regularly by Block-II Area covering the 16 villages under its command. These camps are done 06 days in a week excluding Sundays and Holidays. The name of the camps are general diagnostic camp, hypertension detection camp, diabetic camp, bronchitis asthma camp, school health checkup, sr. citizen camp, maternity & child health camp, etc.
Mobile Medical Van (स्वास्थ्य रथ): 252 Days Beneficiary: 7968 Peoples.
Project Mitwa
This covers the railway sidings & coal dumps. In Project Mitwa health awareness education about hygiene to prevent water and food borne disease like diarrhea, typhoid, jaundice, etc is imparted. Awareness lectures are given for de-addiction of alcohol, smoking, drug abuse. Awareness lectures are also given regarding AIDS. This is followed by distribution of condoms and medicines.

CSR clinics (सरोकार)
One hour daily excluding Sundays & Public Holidays is dedicated to CSR Clinics for health advice given free of cost by doctors at Matigarha&Bhimkanali dispensaries
Wellness Clinic (मुस्कान)
Advice is given two days in a week regarding life style management for patients of hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, alcohol & drug abuse, etc in each dispensary.
ICTC Clinic
Health education awareness lectures regarding AIDS are given twice in a week in each dispensary.

Beneficiaries 37 LTT cases from Colony & surrounding villages
Baby health checkup and vaccination organized at Block-II Area RHB

R&R Status
Nudkharkee&Benedih village Rehabilitated at Bakaspura and BadaPandeydih respectively with all civic amenities and alternate livelihood..At present all efforts are going on to Rehabilitate Kessergarh village to Bhimkanali (part) and BadaPandeydih (part) with all civic amenities and arrangement for alternate livelihood.
Sports & Cultural Activities
Annual Sports is being conducted in joint effort with Barora Area every year & cultural activities like painting & drawing competitions, art & craft competitions being held.

Two Dispensaries:

One Mini-dispensaries:
1) MCW Mini Dispensary, MCW
No. of Doctors – 02, Pharmacists – 04, Ambulance – 03. One mobile medical van for CSR village health camp. Primary health care service given in OPD, Secondary health care, Indoor service & PME of patient are being done at Regional Hospital, Baghmara. For referral cases, patients are referred to Central Hospital Dhanbad.
First Aid training, health awareness programme are regularly organized.
Grievance redressal:
Grievance redressalcell have formed in the Area. The cell has following members:

Water Supply :
Raw water Source : Jamunia River
Raw water is drawn from intake well near Dam on Jamunia River. There is one number water treatment plant of 3.5 MGD capacity. Drinking water from JWTP is supplied to Matigarha Colony, Bhimkanali, Nudkhurkee& Nehru Nagar (Harina Colony) of Block-II Area.
At Dugdha T/S water is drawn from boreholes to ground water tank. From ground tank water is pumped to over head tank and the water is supplied to the colony from overhead tanks.
For D.G Colony & Benedih Colony water is being supplied through boreholes.

Renovation of community hall at Sector-III Matigarh.
